DART Advanced Rider Training is owned and managed by Colin Blackley from his base in Dumfries in the South of Scotland.
Colin’s love of riding started when he was just 17 years old with secret lessons in the school playground from his brother. Obviously forgiven, he was later able to take his father on pillion. Since then, Colin has ridden bikes throughout the UK and Ireland and toured Europe and generated an impressive portfolio of Advanced Rider qualifications.
With 30 years of experience in the police, Colin is well aware of the hazards motorcyclists encounter and is keen to ensure riders take every opportunity to increase their safety and that of other road users. Advanced Rider Training is the best investment motorcyclists can make in keeping themselves safe.
Colin is a highly qualified and experienced tutor and as well as passing the IAM and RoSPA Advanced Motorcycle Test, is also a member of the British Motorcycle Federation (BMF) and a member of the Driving Instructors Association and operates in accordance with their code of conduct.
Colin is currently the Blue Riband Rider Award Chief Instructor for Scotland (South) and is a RoSPA Approved Tutor and Advanced Tutor with a RoSPA Gold Award.
DART Advanced Rider Training has Public Liability and Public Indemnity Insurance through the Driving Instructors Association and offer a range of courses and taster sessions to suit beginners and more experienced riders. Courses are typically delivered on a 1:1 basis. The vast majority of motorcycle miles in the UK are travelled by riders for recreational purposes, we aim to deliver a tailored, safe, enjoyable and fun training experience for all.
